Accessibility policy

The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) defines “accessibility” as follows: "The social value of the Web is that it enables human communication, commerce, and opportunities to share knowledge. One of W3C's primary goals is to make these benefits available to all people, whatever their hardware, software, network infrastructure, native language, culture, geographical location, or physical or mental ability."

Accordingly, CRIQ is committed to having a site that is both easy to use and that meets the requirements of people with disabilities. All current site content complies with Québec government Web accessibility standards.

Our site features the following components for easier accessibility:

  • A browsing experience that is well thought out and easy to understand
  • A hierarchical structure with titles and subtitles
  • Text equivalents for all important images
  • Standards-compliant colour contrast levels
  • Direct access to all search engine pages, the site map, and the accessibility policy
  • Compliance with XHTML 1.0 transition standards
  • Cascade style sheet (CSS) formatting
  • A skip navigation feature
  • Customizable text sizes

Action plan for people with disabilities

Since it is subject to An Act to Secure Handicapped Persons in the Exercise of their Rights with a View to Achieving Social, School, and Workplace Integration (R.S.Q., chapter E-20.1), CRIQ publishes an annual action plan for people with disabilities.

This action plan contains more information on measures taken by CRIQ to ensure people with disabilities can access CRIQ buildings, services, and jobs.
